Every once in a while, Google releases updates to it's algorithm. Think of Google's algorithm like the the secret recipe of Coca-Cola, only a few people in the world know the actual recipe. Only the top engineers at Google know the algorithm. SEO professionals all over the world are always trying to figure out how to figure out the best way to get to the top of search results, but without knowing exactly what the algorithm does, it is difficult if not impossible to know exactly what to do to get top rankings. Google has been releasing algorithm updates frequently since its inception, and recently, each update, especially the Panda (2011) and Penguin (2012) updates have to do with one thing. Quality.
